Business Community - Aim High and Reach Far

Successful companies are the key to a region´s growth. The business community in Västernorrland is characterized by high productivity and a high level of exports. Many companies are established on world markets, and the net export value per employee is very high. Heavy process industries within base industries make up a large part of annual production value. In the process industry there´s a broad circle of investment commodities and environmental companies that are highly competitive. There are also many service companies in the county and, in comparison with other regions, many people are employed within IT, banking, and insurance.

In Västernorrland, we know from experience that cooperation what makes the growth wheel spin. That´s why we are investing in creating effective networks, such as our efforts to group companies. This has proven successful and already strong industries have won additional advantages. By working together the companies complement each other instead of compete with each other. Mid Sweden University is working hand-in-hand with the business community to strengthen its focus on collaborative research and education.

All successful companies have once been small. In Västernorrland there has been a solid increase in new business creation and many schools and youth groups have worked to promote entrepreneurship. In Västernorrland, we can go far together.
