Nature - Find Your Own Personal Paradise

Raging rapids, still black lakes, shifting forests, and dramatic river valleys. A large part of Västernorrland is vast wilderness. The three large rivers, Ljungan, Indalsälven, and Ångermanälven, have left their mark on the countryside and have given us diverse flora and fauna. They also provided countless opportunities for outdoor activities.

The long coast along the Gulf of Bothnia rises up high from the water, and its steep cliffs, high mountains, and deep bays offer impressive views to visitors. The High Coast, the northern part of the county´s coastline, was named a World Heritage Site in 2000 for being the best example of how the landscape has been influenced by glaciation and rising land.

Just over 100 nature reserves and the wild Skuleskogen National Park are shrouded in dark forests and exposed on open stone slab fields. Be inspired and let your curiosity show you the way to your own piece of paradise.
